Three Song Listen Thursday #5

Finsterforst

I've only heard Jenseits (Kapitel I - Freiheit) so I decided to complete the trilogy with Jenseits (Kapitel II - Dualitaet) and Jenseits (Kapitel III - Reflexionen).

I do remember this first song, very good. MAD underrated with 12 800 monthly listeners! What's wrong with it? It's not the language, people listen to Rammstein and their lack of German skills don't bother them. It can't be the refusal to stick to subgenre boxes because that's just COOL. That makes you stand out. And as long as you stick to metal subgenres, it's not even something that divides people... (I don't personally mind genre mixing, usually, when it's not done to "public image wash" the sound into a more palatable and radio-friendly one, but to avoid limiting your artistry to just one genre, because that's also "fan service" and not true artistry.)
I skimmed through their Wikipedia page and didn't see a mention of any controversies or crimes or questionable views.
Google AI answer says:
- songs are too long (boo! your attention span is the problem, not the band)
- some people think accordion sounds cheesy (ok, to each their own. Didn't stick out to me.)
- they're ripping off Moonsorrow (ok, well. This one I get, if they sound too similar. But if they're not downright copying, then that should just make them either sound boring or like sth you'd enjoy as a Moonsorrow fan, like a Moonsorrow Beta while you wait the actual Moonsorrow to release new stuff. If a smaller band is lightly ripping off a bigger band I don't think it's that big of a deal, at least to me. I get double the good music as a consumer, I'm the one who wins in this situation.)
- gimmick releases, such as #YØLØ, which was a lighthearted joke EP with pop and hiphop influences (so you hate fun? Got it)

I'm following them, I really liked this trilogy.
