Weekly Recap (Sept 15th - 21st, 2025)
Monday
On my way to work I listened to Magic 3 by Nas. Finishing the trilogy.
Lil Wayne sounds annoying. Otherwise this is probably my favorite out the Magic albums.
On my way back home I listened to I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me by Lorna Shore.
Great metal album by Wintersu- I mean - Lorna Shore! (Lol. Please tell me I'm not the only one hearing how hecking similar this sounds? It's like Wintersun, but with deathcore vocals sprinkled on top.)
Tuesday
On my way to work I listened to Weirdo by The Rasmus. We'll see if the music has held up... I used to listen to them about 20y ago, but their Eurovision performance was quite meh. And my taste in music has evolved a lot heavier than them since... People have been talking about this album a lot, though...
I do not see why. It's very average and predictable rock music. Catchy, but takes zero risks, doesn't experiment AT. ALL. I'm so fucking bored. Thank god it's only half an hour... How can they call an album "Weirdo" and make it THIS boring?
On my way home I listened to Tomorrow We Escape by Ho99o9. I liked most of the songs. Very alternative and interesting. On Sunday, when I chose albums to listen for the upcoming week, I intentionally put The Rasmus and Ho99o9 on the same day, because I had a feeling The Rasmus might be boring, but Ho99o9 would definitely not be.
Great metal songs, some great rap songs. Some not so great ones as well, it's not a perfect album, but you know. Versatile and interesting. Weird is always better than boring.
Wednesday
On my way to work I was running late and had to improvise, so when I was finally sitting in a bus, I had 30min left and was still kinda panicked from rushing on that bus stop, so I just listened to The Vibe to calm down and to have something I didn't need to focus on. I was supposed to listen to breach by Twenty One Pilots, but I'l get to that next week...
On my way home I listened to Nää pirut on mun kavereit by costee. A decent pop album with some rap and emo flavors, as usual.
Thursday
On my way to work I finally listened to INERTIA by grandson. A Must Listen. Soooo needed right now. He lets the energy drop in the last few songs, though, so it doesn't get a perfect score from me.
Then I listened to Tallah on Audiotree Live. Insane. These guys are insane. Fucking hell! 🤘🖤
On my way home I listened to Kingjp x Hidden Renaissance - Méditations Poétiques // Poetical Meditations.
It was just weird. I was not in the mood for drums and water flow sounds...
Friday
On my way to work I listened to Perimenopop by Sophie Ellis-Baxtor. It's entertaining and catchy pop, I like it.
I was kind of listening to it in the background while I was thinking about how I'm going to change my music listening habits once I get a car. (I just recently got a license.) My ride to work won't be 45-60min of passive sitting and time to kill, it'll be 20-30min of active driving. I need to focus on driving, plus the drive is too short for an entire album.
When I get a treadmill, I'll pick up walking again and can listen to music while I walk. I also want to start making art again, so I may be able to listen to albums then.
But that's still maybe 5 albums a week, not min. 10 like I've been listening lately...
I want to stay on top of essential metal releases, so I think I'll stick to my current habits with that.
I want to get back to discovering prog metal. I want to find a way to stay on top of the "cutting edge" of metal, and also the metal that the general population listens to.
I want to find a new way of discovering hiphop. Current method is too much of a shot in the dark.
With pop, I think I can stay on top of it, if I listen to any major albums people seem to talk about a lot and queer pop artists I see on PinkNews headlines. And people who win major awards.
Other genres, I either don't care about them or I can discover them one by one.
When the year is over, I can take a look back at Album of the Year's top albums of the year and such lists. Their Must Listen list is too vast, not all of it is worth it... I think. I need to take another look at it to be sure.
