The Best of Eurovision Song Contest Final 2025
Just quick notes about the evening, while it was going on, plus looking up who's who afterwards and acting accordingly.
If I don't mention a song that means it either sucked or it didn't really make me feel anything. There were a surprisingly big amount of great songs this year, usually I like maybe five of them enough to hit the like on Spotify and maybe one every few years that I actually like enough to follow the artist for more music. This year I liked a lot more and followed two groups. But there were also a lot of average pop songs, as the show has every year. I'll hear them so much in the radio in the upcoming summer that I never want to hear them again in my life.
= Laura Thorn - La poupée monte le son
Estonia was funny! (Found it on Spotify and hit "like".)
= Tommy Cash - Espresso Macchiato
Lithuania is The Vibe 🖤 I love it. (Liked the song on Spotify, followed them for more. Would follow them five times over if that was possible. I... I'm speechless.)
= Katarsis - Tavo akys
Ukraine was beautiful, I love proge <3 (Liked on Spotify.)
= Ziferblat - Bird of Pray
I lowkey loved UK, I'd listen to them again! I want to see what they're about. (Added them to my Three Song Listen list.)
= Remember Monday - What the Hell Just Happened?
Austria... umm... wow. I'm shocked. In a good way. Deserved the win! (Liked on Spotify.)
= JJ - Wasted Love
Latvia - I'm convinced these women are faes and they'll lure me into the forest like sirens and I'll disappear for forever and live my best sapphic life under their spell. (Liked the song and followed them. On Spotify. And into the forest. Never to be seen again.)
= Tautumeitas - Bur man laimi
Germany was catchy, would dance in a bar.
= Abor & Tynna - Baller
Switzerland - LOVED her accent, she made me like French... Beautiful voice as well! (Liked on Spotify.)
= Zoë Më - Voyage
Go Sweden! Go KAJ! I've already liked the song Bara Bada Bastu on Spotify. I saw that they've put out an album. I added it to my ever-growing list of albums to listen.
The 100-times over better Finnish act on the show this year! Now, I don't know Erika Vikman personally, so I don't hate her on a personal level, but as an artist... She's like the most over-rated artist since Rebecca Black and such an industry plant and I don't want see her fucking face or hear her god-awful voice ever again, thank you very much, stop putting her on every single tv show!! Yes, I freakin hate her as an artist!
Everyone seems to make songs reminding us of past decades or be set in fantasy lands - I can feel the escapism. No one wants to live on this timeline. Too many wars and dictators. Laura Thorn had disco vibes, Katarsis reminds me of the 90s (the overall vibe) and maybe a little of the 80s (synthpop, goth rock), Ziferblat's outfits and music were quite 70s, maybe even older (in a good way), Remember Monday was the most 2000s thing I've seen in a while, Abor & Tynna's song was kinda timeless actually - could be anywhere from the 90s to 2020s, and Tautumeitas was out of this world completely, from some fantasy realm. KAJ and Tommy Cash made songs about the small joys of life (sauna and coffee, in this case).
Käärijä's and Baby Lasagna's show while we waited for the voting to end and the results to come in was great! Found it online, the mashup song is called #eurodab. (Liked it on Spotify.)
PS. Even this song's chorus is literally "One step forward and one step back / Everybody knows how to clap, clap, clap / Good old times, we do miss you bad / So we bring back that dab, dab, dab". I'm telling you, none of these people like this timeline we're on. And neither do I. Excuse me, while I put on my headphones, listen to some Katarsis, wander into the forest and let Tautumeitas capture me.
