Whitechapel - Hymns in Dissonance (Album Initial Thoughts)
Well, that explains it! I mixed up Dark Chapel and Whitechapel at some point, trying to keep up with new releases!
Lets correct that mistake and listen to this right now!
It's a bit heavier than what I usually listen to, but hey, I can make out the lyrics, it's not boring... There is a melody. Everyone has talent. Gazillion times more interesting than Dark Chapel.
Yeah, I fuck with this! Not something I'd listen to every day on my own, but it's def cool AF and I really appreciate the talent! His screams sound heavy and badass as a motherfucker, but I can still make out every single word. He's awesome. And I like the music as well, it's faster-paced than what I usually listen to, with the blastbeats, etc, but there is a distinctive melody and it's a good melody.
I probably won't listen to them again, but I'm glad I did this. I love seeing how much heavier music I can handle than, lets say, a decade ago or two decades ago. This is extreme metal, a very peculiar music genre in the grand scheme of things, and I like this. I am so cool, lol.
With this kind of music, deathcore, being so popular in the past couple of years, this has potential to be nominated for a Grammy, for sure. Sleep Token will win, though, probably. It's brought so many new people into metal and is so versatile and innovative. Where as Whitechapel is definitely heavier than Sleep Token and metalheads will love this album. And probably already do love this album, I'm just late to the party.
