Random albums I listened to in April 2025
Doechii - Alligator Bites Never Heal (2024)
Meh. It's like a C tier album. Average.
Many great songs, some not that great ones.
Overall a very good album. Just didn't feel like writing.

Rapsody - Please Don't Cry (2024)
Too many songs, 22 in a little more than an hour. What happened to normal albums? 45-60min, about 12-15 songs. All these hiphop albums are either 8 songs, 30min, or they're 20+ songs, over 1h.
It's alright. I can hear why critics like it. She's talented, waaaay better than whatever's on the radio.
My favorite song was Black Popstar. It was more upbeat, the rest of the songs kinda all sound the same. Ask me to name any other song from the album in an hour, I can't do it. Maybe Never Enough. The reggae influences make it stand out.
"You Queen for me like Bohemian Rhapsody", haha! One of the guys in Raw said that bar, Niko Brim I think?
LUNA KILLS - DEATHMATCH (2025)
This is awesome! Badass yet catchy as well!
Central Cee - Can't Rush Greatness (2025)
Yeah, sure. He can rap well, the production sounds good... I don't understand his accent, but I appreciate people who rap in their natural accent and dialect instead of faking a more commonly used one (i.e. when British rappers sound like Brits or Finnish rappers not from Helsinki use their own dialect instead of the Helsinki one).
I followed along the lyrics for a couple of songs. Meh. Basic mainstream shit. Money, cars, bitches and hos. Blaaaaah. He's kind of an annoying crybaby, isn't he? No? Just IMO? Ok...
Ps. Lil Baby sounds AWFUL, OMG! Good thing I heard this now, before listening to an entire album in a month!
Meshuggah - Immutable - The Indelible Edition (2025 Remastered)
Didn't realize this is a remastered version of an old album. Oh well. I've been recommended them so many times it's about time I listen to them.
I like the music, how progressive it is. Vocals aren't my thing. I like vocals with more variety - both cleans and screams, in the same song. Having just one vocal style gets a bit repetitive and boring, and in general prog is anything but repetitive and boring...
Epica - Aspiral (2025)
Very good. They're the most interesting symphonic metal band out there, and I think the biggest reasons I think that is because I absolutely adore Simone Simons' voice and because their screamer, Mark Jansen, is an actually good screamer. Most symphonic metal bands don't have a screamer. This kinda makes all of their songs sound soft and pretty, and therefore kinda the same, there's less variety and less actually HEAVY music when there's only a classically trained soprano singing everything. From this album, T.I.M.E. was my favorite song.
Swallow the Sun - Shining (Deluxe Edition, 2025)
I'm two songs in and bored. The melodies are predictable AF and the screams are mediocre. They better bring it later in the album...
I've followed them?? When? Why? Just out of curiosity? -- Apparently I liked When a Shadow is Forced in the Light in 2023 when I heard that on my Discover Weekly, and in 2024 Charcoal Sky reminded me of Katatonia. But since then their songs have been ok at best. I've mentioned them, but haven't even commented with emojis. Sometimes I'm busy or not in the mood to write anything, but I try to at least put some emojis next to the song if I like them more than the average amount. Like hearts, a flame (if the song's "fire"), the devil horns symbol (if it's metal), etc. Whatever feels appropriate. I'm unfollowing them. I've heard enough. I mean, I'll finish this album, even though the rest seems to sound exactly like the first two songs, but... That's just fair. I saw something in them at one point.
And I'm dedicated to my album marathon project. I'm trying to listen to every interesting album that comes out. I have similar projects with movies, books and games as well, at the same time. I'm busy, but at least there's something interesting in my life all of the time, and that means less time being stuck in my head with my spiraling thoughts or obsessing over certain celebrities or scrolling social media. I deleted Tiktok. It's just a waste of time, and people can be so mean sometimes... I'm still on the edge about YouTube... I like the communal aspect of it, and how many people put effort into their videos and they're like essays or tv shows more than social media content... But it's a huge chunk of time that I'd have to spend there, if I watched everyone I like...

good boys - Hittaa (2025)
They're a Finnish hiphop group, that've lowkey blown up this year.
These lyrics kinda suck ass, but it's funny. And people have been correct, when they've complimented these rhyme schemes and flows and their style in general (I've read one magazine article and encountered one VERY enthusiastic fan who wouldn't stop gushing about them). These doubles are hilarious! The sound is very modern and trap, I like it. Overall, as long as you don't take it too seriously, it's a great album.
Ares - APATHIA (2025)
A Finnish rap album that's been doing great on the charts. I'm not surprised, this was pretty great! Def going to translate these lyrics for the other blog at some point, if they're available somewhere, once I finish older translation projects. And following Ares for more music.
Anssi Kela - Kaikki tiet joita kuljin (2025)
I read a review of this album that gave it 5/5 stars.
My mom loves his music, or at least did when I was a kid, so I grew up listening to him. His first two albums are 5/5, the third is maybe 4/5. He's one of the best lyricists I know, of any genre or language.
This album's a 4/5, or 3.5/5. It's not good but not his best. Neljäs huhtikuuta is a 5/5, though. I'm at work, listening to this in the background as I'm shelving books. And I had to pause and sit down to listen to those lyrics. It's just as good as his old songs.
He probably has albums I haven't listened to yet. I should listen to them sometime.
Averagekidluke - YUNO (2024)
I'm not a huge fan of mixing English with Finnish. We have such a beautiful language, lets use it. (Lol, look who's talking. A Finn with a blog in English.) But the production, the lyrics... Yeah, it all works. A good pop rap album. And I guess kpop artists have made it cool to mix English with their native language... So this album's trendy, in that sense. A product of it's time.
- - Edit May 22nd: Just found out Finnish isn't his first language. I 100% forgive him for the Finglish! His Finnish skills are great!
Wiz Khalifa - Kush + Orange Juice 2
I liked Luh Tyler's voice but not rapping. Michael Prince sucks, so does Max B, but Max had pretty good lyrics. Wiz himself seems to be ok. Good rapper, average or below average songwriter/lyricist.
I don't hate it, though. It doesn't completely suck, the album I mean. Red Eyes was actually a pretty good song, I wouldn't mind listening to that again! I also liked DJ Quik, his doubles were funny. Just To See You Smile was beautiful. I'm guessing RMR is the singer? His voice is beautiful.
You know what? I take that back. This album's above average. It's still not great, but I did like the latter half more than the first half. I wouldn't mind listening to another album by him.
Laurenne/Louhimo - Falling Through Stars
They're two female metal vocalists from Finland. Netta Laurenne is the less known of the two, even I don't think I've heard any of her music in the past. I know the name, though. Noora Louhimo sings in Battle Beast, which is a band me and my fiancé both like. They're talented enough to meet my high standards, and not too heavy for my fiancé. He usually listens to bands like Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica. (Not quite my thing, but I can't deny that they're talented. And I see the appeal of them for a male fantasy geek such as a my fiancé.)
The album was pretty much what I expected it to be. It served as an ok buffer between two rap albums, but like... I'll probably never listen to it again. FTS was a pleasant surprise, I enjoyed that one. Might listen to it again.
Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To (2024)
I'd only heard Suffocate before listening to this.
At first I wasn't into his vocals at all, but something changed after Suffocate. It felt like his vocals and the music in general got more versatile after that, but I'm still not sure if it was just in my head... If the music actually got more versatile or if I'm imagining it. Poppy just sounds so amazing when she screams like this <3
2hollis - star
I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. It's cool. I want to say "low effort" but I don't mean that they're not trying, I mean that I don't have to break my brain listening to this. I don't have to think, I can just listen to it on the background. In that sense, this is like Unlike Pluto or Witchz.
Not every single piece of music has to be something that makes one think. We need background music - ACTUALLY GOOD background music - in our lives as well. Like a soundtrack, but for your everyday life, when you do chores, run errands or work out.

Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT (2024)
I've heard Lunch and The Diner, otherwise I missed the entire album dropping. I just heard about it like a month ago, if that.
It's good. So far, her first album was my favorite, this is the 2nd best and the middle album Happier Than Ever is the worst. All of them are good, this just comes down to my personal taste. I prefer the darker, more alternative Billie.
Eluveitie - Ànv
This is pretty hecking awesome!
Not my usual cup of tea, but I still like it!
Ghost - Skeletá
Yeah, it's nice. I've heard Satanized before, the rest was new to me.
That Mexican OT x Sauce Walka - Chicken & Sauce
I am a sucker for trap... This is trap, right? Sounds like trap to me.
The lyrics are kinda meh but I like what the music sounds like.
Crazy Talk sounded the best, Young Man had the best lyrics. There were four songs that I didn't like at all, the rest (ten songs) I did like.
Wu-Tang Clan x The Mathematics - Black Samson, the Bastard Swordsman
You know what? Not at all what I'd usually listen, but I get it. This music is awesome. This is Hiphop, with a capital H.
Claudine was my favorite song, I put it on my Listen To This playlist (which is songs I want to listen to again, to get more out of them). Charleston Blue, Legend of a Fighter as well.
Let's Do It Again had a bar "We quiet like librarians". If you see me shutting up, you're the problem. Lol.
Turisti - ROADMAN (2024)
The most average hiphop album I've ever heard. The production is average. His rapping is average. His lyricism is average. The concept... well, there's no concept. I just learned what a roadman is, and this album has absolutely nothing to do with it, apart from the title. There isn't even a song called Roadman. So the implied concept, that turns out to not exist, is a minus. So this album's below average. 49/100.
Liv Kristine - Amor Vincit Omnia
Didn't her voice use to have more power? This is kinda weak...
No offense, she has a pretty voice. I just need more.
The Great Old Ones - Kadath
Idk, this didn't really do anything to me. It's fine, but... I don't understand why people have been praising this so much...
Charli XCX - brat (2024)
It's a great pop album. The branding was so good, though, that I wish the lyricism would match that. That it would be a concept album about this "brat" persona she has. Bad bitch attitude throughout. That would have been a perfect album.
Costi - Klondike
Yeah, I see the appeal. I'm not head over heals in love, but I recognize talent when I hear it. The songs are catchy, zero annoying hooks (only good ones), he can rap, he can annunciate, his lyricism is fine. Is it the greatest piece of art I've ever heard? No. But it's a solid album. Makes me want to hear the next one he puts out.
FKA twigs - Eusexua
OMG, love. Obsessed. Perfect. Speechless. The Vibe. Followed. 🔥❤️
D-low - I am the Instrument
I don't understand why is no one talking about this? Has it been done before? Has someone else beatboxed all the beats and then rapped over them? If so, who? I want to compare.
It's possible someone has, because I had just had the idea of how cool that would be when I heard that someone (D-low) actually did it. This was months ago, I guess I'm late to my own party, but I digress.
