Random albums I listened to in February 2025

Paleface Swiss - CURSED
Great album, I just didn't feel like writing much.
Saw someone call this "old school SlipKnoT on steroids" and they were not wrong!
Enough? was probably my favorite from the album. It's contradicting itself, but that's what makes it interesting...

VUKOVI - MY GOD HAS GOT A GUN
Good album. GUNGHO and MY GOD HAS GOT A GUN are my favorite songs from it. La Di Da is still their best song, though.

Jinjer - Duél
I was in the mood for Discover Weekly but this was the morning I only got three songs on it. :(
This album's good. Not groundbreaking, but a solid album anyways.

Mac Miller - Balloonerism
This was very different and alternative. Deep and thought-provoking artistry, very melancholic - and in that sense, quite similar to the metal I listen to, to prog metal. I need to check out more Mac Miller, I put him on my Deep Dive list, even though I'm not doing Deep Dives any time soon. I'm on a journey with new albums coming this year. I want to see where the rest of the world is at and not just exist in my own bubble... It's a phase, I'll return to the bubble at some point.

Lacuna Coil - Sleepless Empire
I wanted to check out their album because I feel like Andrea Ferro gets better and better with his screams, which IMO were kind of a weak point of this great band in the past. I wanted to see where he's now with his skills.

Still a bit too breathy, could be fuller, if we want to give constructive criticism. To a metalhead, his vocals are not impressive (sorry, this sounds so mean). BUT, AND THIS IS A BIG BUT!! He's so much better now! He's an average screamer now. Which means that the band as a whole is very good now!

His best work on this album is the title track, Sleepless Empire.

Arankai - A Portrait of Red
Yeeey, a debut album! I've been listening to him since he had, like, 1-3 songs. Early 2022.
I've heard most of these before, as singles. Evergreen is still my favorite song by him and it's on this album! Now all he needs is some decent music videos and the reaction community on YouTube could make him blow up. There's a lot of elements to react to (screams, cleans, rap, metal, production, melodies, lyricism), songs are catchy yet impactful, he's super talented, he's independent so he can let people react to his stuff without them getting in copyright trouble... He has over half a million monthly listeners already, three years into his career, so they'd get views, especially if marketed on Tiktok, which I think is his biggest platform.
I love that he went the metal route for the album. He's an ok rapper, but an amazing screamer. And it's good to have a consistent sound throughout a project like an album.

Hangman's Chair - Saddiction
Meh. I don't remember their old songs being this old-school and predictable? I could be wrong...
Canvas, Neglect and Healed? were better. Not that the other songs were bad, they were just not what I was expecting. Not as complex as I remembered their older songs being.

Tate McRae - So Close To What
I like the sound of Miss possessive, but not the message. Sports car is catchy, so is Like I do

ALT BLK ERA - Rave Immortal
The album title is descriptive. This could def play at a rave. It's alternative party music.
