Lady Gaga - MAYHEM (Album Initial Thoughts)

She used to be the leading edge of what's cool in pop.

A couple of years ago I would have said that was hyperpop, but I feel like that's been done... IMO, Lady Gaga and Kesha pioneered that, whether they think they did or not. The self-aware, tongue-in-cheek lyricism of hyperpop.

We need something new that's cool, I feel like the kind of hyperpop I'm talking about is dying out (I think it's called "1st wave of hyperpop"?)

From the first couple of songs I can tell it's versatile.

It's got some old-school disco vibes. I guss those are in rn, to some extent..? I don't know, I don't follow mainstream pop. I listen to alt pop and sometimes that happens to become the next cool sound.

I can imagine several of these playing in a movie. I guess that's one thing that makes pop great nowadays.

I liked the latter half of the album more. The first half was very good as well, no complaints, but my fav songs from the albums are How Bad Do U Want Me, Don't Call Tonight, Shadow of a Man and The Beast. They actually got my head boppin.

She's still got it 🩷💜💙
