Weekly Recap (Dec 30th 2024 - Jan 5th 2025)
Discover Weekly
- Manntra - Sin (I liked the chanting in the beginning. The rest is ok. Apparently the language is Croatian.)
- Skorn x Shade Apollo x $witchblade - deadZone (I liked the screamer, very nice even tone. Talented person. The rappers sound annoying.)
- Istasha - Unholy Meat Obelisk (Istasha always kills it. A bit soft for The Vibe, but great for the Rap & Hiphop list.)
- Bitterwood - Paradigm (Talented singer! I enjoyed this.)
- Artificial Language - Endless Naught (He sounds like Einar Solbeg, but is not Einar Solberg.)
- Straight Line Stitch - Black Veil (I like her screams but not her cleans.)
I see what Spotify tried to do with this. There was a lot of dark trap / trap metal -esque stuff here and that's what I've been into lately, especially Grim Salvo. A lot of ok songs, but no that many that stood out.

I heard Otep Shamaya retired from music. I don't know her reasons, they're probably different than what I'm gonna say now, but... I'm glad about this decision. I loved her in my teen years. She can rap, she can scream, she's badass and a feminist and a lesbian. Definitely some kind of a role model for me growing up, in hindsight. But lately, in the past decade or so, her musical choices and her lyrical content have dragged after the important topics of the day and the trends by like 5-10 years. She can't keep up anymore and is outdated. And I don't mean this in a mean way, it's just a fact. Heck, I'm 32 and can't keep up with the youth fashion trends and slang anymore. And that's fine, because I'm not the youth. It's completely fine that she can't keep up either. Her trying to, though, or seemingly trying... I felt second hand embarrassment. So, I'm glad, for her sake, that she decided to retire. May she find fulfillment in some other area of her life. <3
