Witt Lowry (Three Song Listen)
He is an American rapper, born 1991, been releasing music since 2011, signed to Atlantic Records (according to a quick Google search).
He was recommended to me by an internet friend, her and I know each other through the Avengers reaction community and their friends. Over the couple of years I've known her, I've certainly heard more than three songs by him, but they have been on livestreams, in the passing. I've paid more attention to the conversations at hand than the songs.
I just took his three most played songs from Spotify for this: Into Your Arms, Put Me First, The War I'm Scared To Face.
Into Your Arms ft. Ava Max
Hook is a bit meh, too mainstream for my taste. But maybe that is to be expected from the most popular song of a signed artist. Or any artist. Mainstream is mainstream for a reason.
He raps well, though, I like his voice and his lyrics. It's just the hook.
Put Me First ft. Josh Golden
"Ooh heaven is a place on Earth" 😂 I wonder how much they paid for that melody...
I like his rapping, but the music is way too... Disney, mainstream, lovey-dovey, sweet honey with sugar on top or whatever. You get the idea. I need grit, real raw emotions, that kind of vibe.
The War I'm Scared To Face ft. Livingston
I don't like the singer's falsetto.
I like how Witt is more emotional here. His voice is a bit annoying (high-pitched) when he does, but it's ok, the pain and emotion sounds real and that's not always pretty. Gives me hope that he CAN be more hard-hitting and in your face if he wants to. Now I know what to ask if someone recommends his songs to me. I want him to make me cry. To feel something. This song comes close.
