Unlike Pluto (Deep Dive)

I've already heard 18 songs and I'm probably going to like the rest of them as well, so I'll just write down ones that really stand out to me.
Also, he seems like the kinda artist whose music sorta blends together when you first hear it, and you only start to learn to differentiate between songs after hearing them multiple times.
He has a shit ton of music, btw. Nine albums and dozens of singles in 5-8 years. Holy shit dude 😂
I'm starting from the albums and then try to weed out the singles so I don't listen to the same song twice. Kinda defeats the point of trying to listen to all of it.

Unless It Happens To You. The acoustic guitar adds a different touch to the EDM. And my god those high notes <3 I'm picky about male falsettos and that was beautiful, ethereal even. And he doesn't overuse it, so it definitely adds a nice touch. He's a VERY talented singer! Can have the cleanest of cleans, a little bit of rasp, full on scream, etc. I am in awe.

Ethel. Very catchy instrumental hook, amazing rasp he gradually adds as the line goes on before the hook... Ah <3

Mosh Pit 🖤

Riptide. He's not rapping, but it has some bounce to it! At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if he could rap as well. Seems like he can do anything with that voice...
I'm about four songs deep into Pluto Tapes: Volume 2 and seems like the entire album has more hiphop influences than the previous one. Some of these instrumentals would work as hiphop beats.
No Rainbows In The Desert goes hard! Best screams thus far, still in the kinda rock side of things, though. I know he can do metal screams, can't wait him to get there...
Yes Offense. Here we go with the screams! Yes! I don't care what anyone thinks, this is going on my Metal playlist! This is so dope!! 🖤

Revenge And A Little Bit More. And now there's Spanish guitar? This is just a Pandora's box of all the genres at once <3

Broken String. Omg I love this <3 Definitely one of my favorite songs from him thus far.

The Technicolor Daydream album sounds summery ☀️

Don't Wait For Me 🖤

A Cautionery Tale 🖤🤟🏻

Belladonna is so beautiful! Instantly one of my favorites.

I'm Not Surprised. Not his best screams, but anyway - this song's got everything!

Digital Junkie has punk influences? Every time I hear a new genre from him, I'm surprised. I don't know why. He's clearly one of those artists where one shouldn't expect anything 'cause it might be any genre under the sun. But he also makes it sound like him and no one else.

It Goes Inside My Head. Maybe the closest to rap he's gone. I wish he'd go for it! I imagine his rapping would sound like a male version of Kade McCuen (melodic, beautiful, kinda alt, but still definitely rap).

Shelf Life. My Finnish brain hears the lyrics as "I'm sisu, I'm sisu" 😂 It's obviously "I'm see-through"...

Guts has more hiphop influences, so do RidiculousMy Life Away, Crocodile Tears and Question.

Closing thoughts
The Spotify description gives the impression that he's done songs in multiple different genres during his career, so I was expecting to see bigger differences between songs over time, or the discography under the name Unlike Pluto to just suddenly start "out of nowhere" because he would have also published other kinds of music before under a different name. But no, his early singles look & sound like a normal career start - lots of covers, some original songs, more and more music each year, slowly finding his sound.
Granted, that sound is very obviously influenced by a very wide selection of different music genres.
I liked almost all 200 songs he's got, some more than others. I might have listened to some of them twice, though. (Apart from that one female singer, I don't like her voice. Or maybe it was multiple women, I wasn't paying attention, since I listened to the songs so many days apart. This Deep Dive took me around a week. The one with the nasal, jazzy voice. Not my thing at all, that vocal sound.)
I want to listen to his upcoming albums the same way I did this one - just listen to it, like all the songs and add the applicable songs to The Vibe playlist, not feeling a pressure to come up with things to say about the music.

I feel like there's two kinds of independent artists out there - ones who have a certain sound and they produce huge amounts of music in that sound, and ones who put quality over quantity and every single song sounds different from the next. Neither is better than the other - if the sound works for you and your fans, go for it! And when you listen to a lot of the first kind of artist, their songs are different from each other after all. They just have a very specific sound to their music, so at first listen the hundreds of songs they make sound the same.
Signed artists are different, their music releasing is way more controlled. What they're allowed to publish, what does the song sound etc. And albums come out around every three years. Then they tour, during or after which they write and record more stuff, etc. Something like that, I have no personal experience - this is how it seems to work.

I should have listened to Sect Unit this way as well - only write about the especially good songs. And not do him right after Grim Salvo, they're too similar. I kinda did him dirty when I did that.
So, to not repeat the mistake - I will NOT listen to people/groups like HEALTH or Witchz right after this, I feel like they're too similar to Unlike Pluto, musically. I'm thinking Kade McCuen or Stoneside. Probs first Kade, then I'll see if I still want to do Stoneside next.
