Binge listening albums (Initial Thoughts)

So, about a gazillion artists decided to drop a new album now, in the past five months, and I don't know much about most of the artists, they're just ones I've wanted to check more music from lately. Some are old favorites. So I decided to lump all of them in the same post instead of giving each their own post where I write next to nothing about them.

RAEGAN - FUCK RAEGAN EP

Already heard Fuck Raegan (the song) and 101 Dalmatians.
Favorite song listening to this EP now was Coins. She can rap!! With that voice!!

She's independent and only has 26 600 monthly listeners and THAT MUST BE A CRIME BECAUSE OH MY GOD. This woman's voice is heavenly, the production (which she does herself) is immaculate, the songs are unique from each other and from other artists, but there's still a coherent sound to the EP... Very good, I'd say 8/10 EP as a total.

I immediately want to hear more, but I'm on a mission here, I got lots of albums to go through. She's on my Deep Dive list.

Wheel - Charismatic Leaders

I've heard Porcelain, Disciple and Empire from this album, and Lacking and Fugue from previous albums. Listened to Lacking and Fugue again because I didn't remember them and then all the songs from the album. Album dropped 15 hours ago, so this is the newest album on this post.

Oh, right! Lacking kinda sounds like Tool, that's probably why I got into this band back in the day! Maynard (vocalist of Tool) is a creep and I need good replacement bands. This vocalist ain't quite as good a singer as Maynard, but a solid screamer.
Oh yes, Fugue is even more "Tool"! That's what I saw in them, definitely!

I keep forgetting they're Finnish, 'cause the singer is an immigrant and doesn't have an accent...

First song was ok. I liked it and put it on the Metal playlist.
Porcelain I've heard before, it's better than the first song. When I heard it I had liked it and put it on the Metal and The Vibe playlists.
Submission I heard on my Release Radar this morning. It's hitting me more now, as part of the album, than this morning, among all the new rap songs today's Release Radar had. Nice subtle belting around 3:00 min mark. I wish he would have belted like that in Lacking. But this song is great! Wtf! It hit me much better now than in the morning.
I really like Saboteur. Very prog. Would require multiple listens to be truly appreciated. I added it to The Vibe playlist so that'll eventually happen. Prog metal is The Vibe, because the ever-evolving music makes me focus on that instead of my own thoughts.
Disciple was fine, didn't do much to me personally.
Accidentally missed Caught in the Afterglow on the first listen, was not expecting a 1:12 length song among all the the 4-11min ones. Nice, different guitar sound.
The Freeze is The Vibe as well. I'm fully focused on what he has to say.

I should clearly just keep this attitude towards prog where if I'm like "Why was I so into this band?" and then see they're prog, to say to myself "It's prog. Trust me, bro."

The drummer's name sounded familiar. You want to see what he did 16 years ago? Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNC8jZgI1uk. The singer Jonna Kosonen was a pop singer outside this band, part of the pop duo Nylon Beat. (Oh, the nostalgia trip!)

Dawn of Ashes - Reopening the Scars

I've liked 6 songs, three of which are from this album.

Spotify says it's a mixture of aggrotech and industrial metal.

First song, Reopening the Scars, just sounds cinematic. Not very aggressive or industrial or metal.
Second song, Anhedonia, sounds like the description. Not my kind of vocals, too monotone and I can't make out the lyrics. I like the instrumental. -- The song grew on me as it went on. I put it on my Metal playlist.
I've heard Exsanguination before and feel the same way - instrumental 10/10, vocals not really my thing. The genre combo is interesting, though.
One Shot Kill is still great, though. Def The Vibe.
Lifeless In Misanthropy was random...

I do see what I saw in them, but I think I'm done. Nothing personal, their music just isn't my thing after all, overall. I unfollowed them.

Got bored, I'm continuing another day. Maybe tomorrow.
