Ashnikko ft. Yung Baby Tate - STUPID (Lyrical Breakdown)

Ash pretty much said it all already in her Genius interview, but I'm writing this anyway. If you haven't seen it, you might want to watch it before reading this, though, because I will be referencing it a lot, mainly just explaining my interpretation of what she says in the interview, or if I have anything else I want to say about the lyrics. I've seen her talk about this in a couple of more interviews, so some of my info is from elsewhere.
Here's the interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXR4APbzN1U

Basically, it's her dissing her ex.

The breakdown

Wet! Wet! Wet! Wet!

Wet! Wet! Wet! Wet!

(I'm shy)

(Oh my god)

She improvised this part in the studio when they started recording, the "Wet! Wet! Wet!" part. She's saying the Stupid Boy (her ex) has a "flaccid noodle dick".

"I'm shy" is a catchphrase she uses in a lot of her songs. Ashton Nicole Casey is shy, in real life, and created the Ashnikko persona to speak on her behalf and to empower herself. I feel that the line has blurred over the years, though (in the past few years especially). Ashton has become more confident and outspoken and Ashnikko has become calmer and more mature. They're fusing into one personality.

Stupid boy think that I need him

I go cold like changing seasons

I go red hot like a demon

I go ghost for no damn reason

Stupid boy think that I need him

Stupid boy think that I need him

In the interview, she talked about running into her ex and him "being so smug, smirking, like he had sUcH a PrOfOuNd EfFeCt On My LiFe".

And she was like fuck you and blocked him (went "ghost for no damn reason").

"Go cold", like, 'give someone the cold shoulder'. But also going red, like being angry. Rappers like to use the opposites next to each other, like in here we have 'cold' and 'hot'.

Pleasing, season, I'm spicy

Hot to touch, too much, too pricey

Heathen, I'm in your psyche

You don't know no one else like me

(WHOA)

Stupid boy think that I need him

Stupid boy think that I need him

In the interview she called herself "a crazy bitch, in the good and the bad sense".

Good in the sense that she can be spicy, hot, a very sexual and kinky person, IF you're on her good side. She knows how to please her partner.

But. If you get in her bad side, you get the bad side of the crazy bitch. "The crazy ex-girlfriend" type, you get the picture.

Stupid Boy can't handle her, she's too hot (he gets his fingers burned), she's too much and too pricey. Could mean that she has an expensive taste and he can't afford that, or could be that he hasn't got enough 'mental currency'. In Finnish this is an expression, I'm not sure if it exists in English... -- Googled, it's called "human capital" in English and mainly applied to work places - i.e. employees' know-how and skills are the company's human capital. In Finnish, it also refers to the know-how and skills, emotional intelligence, etc, an individual has. The non-currency value the individual has not only in their workplace but in their personal life as well. Like the Stupid Boy does not. She's too much to handle with his human capital, costs too much. She needs someone as pricey, who has as much human capital, to match hers.

Spices aka seasoning, like salt, pepper, paprika, etc.

She's in his psyche, "got into his head" so to speak.

I know you think about me in the shower

Pornhub in your browser

Fantasize about the pussy power

Think about me with your hand down your trousers

I'm sweet, then I'm sour

I'm big boss Bowser

I know you salivating over me, sir

Nipples through the t-shirt

Told your mommy that you're bringing home a keeper

Knees are getting weaker when he hear me through the speaker

Big wood, cut him off, cedar

(Chorus)

Stupid Boy is thinking about Ash when he jerks off, either in the shower or when he's searching blue-haired girls on Pornhub.

She said she gets "sour like Sour Patch Kids". Again, it's the duality of the human nature, the duality of Ashnikko. Being sweet, but also being sour. Which are both flavors, we got from spices to flavors.

In video games, "big boss" means the final antagonist you have to beat before winning the game. Ash references video games and Japanese culture quite often. (And Western kids media and culture of the 90s and 2000s.) Bowser is the big boss of Mario games. He's a king and a thing he often does is kidnap Princess Peach, and then Mario has to save the damsel in distress. Ash is pansexual, she will also steal your girl.

The "nipples through the tshirt" bar is Stupid Boy, desperate to see Ash's boobs again, going to her Instagram and zooming in pictures, to see the outline of her nipples through her shirt.

Ash ghosted and blocked the Stupid Boy, "cut him off". When a man's "got wood", it means he's got a boner, he's hard. Ash is (imagining) cutting his dick off. Cedar is a type of tree aka wood. Found a fun fact: cedar doesn't bloom until it's around 30 years old 😂 So, maybe there's hope Stupid Boy will mature with age as well. 🤣

Stupid Stupid

You dumb goofy, goofy

This pussy juicy, juicy

Ooh yummy, wanna do me?

Ooh nah, boy you could never

'Cuz you not clever enough

And i got several dummies that wanna get on me

I don't want you and i don't want your homie

First half of Baby Tate's verse. It's pretty self-explanatory, though there are some fun doubles. Juice is a tasty drink, it's yummy. ...

'Cuz both of y'all are suckers, y'all some dum dums

I could play you straight up out your bread

Now you got crumb crumbs

I don't really need a man

But sometimes I want one though

So I keep peter pans on me, I got young hundos

(Young money, get it?)

(Chorus

Suckers and dum-dums are 1) stupid people 2) lollipops, which makes it a sexual double (blowjobs), which in turn means that 3) she's also calling them dicks.

Bread, as in food from his table, his income. She's taking all his money and leaving him crumbs, scraps.

Peter Pan is a children's book character, a boy who never grew up. Like, literally. Stupid boy never grew up, figuratively. Baby Tate keeps 'boytoys' around for when she wants a man. (Peter Pan's not quite 90s/2000s kids culture, although the live action movie did come out in 2003. The Disney animation is from 1953.)

"Hundo" can mean a man (like "a hunk"), but it can also mean a hundred dollar bill - "young money". Young Money is also Lil Wayne's record label. (Ash and Baby Tate were both signed to Parlophone at this time, though, not Young Money. Ash has since signed with Parlophone's owner label WMG, when her career took off. Baby Tate is still at Parlophone.)

Nothing about you is attractive to me now

Blocking you, avoiding you actively right now

I don't need the dick, I need magic, I need money

Puppy wanna lick something sticky just like honey

How the things you used to think are cute about a person when you got together just annoy you later on, when you want to break up or have already broken up.

He's a dick, but also, he's got a dick. She wants neither of them, and needs neither of them. She needs magic - the butterflies and whatnot a new relationship brings. And the money - she's too pricey for him.

He wants to lick her pussy. And he's acting like a puppy about it - begging and pleading, whining, being a needy little baby. Ash wants a grown partner, one who can take care of themselves and doesn't need their partner to be their replacement parent or therapist.
