Weekly Recap (Oct 2nd - 8th, 2023)

Discover Weekly
- Samantha Margret - RAGE (Not how I imagined a song called RAGE to sound like, but... sure.)
- buffalo_farm - P_O_S (THIS is rage.)
- Sophie Hunter - CVNT (Chorus is way too repetitive, but I like the verses. Lyrics are... cunt.)
- Meredith Bull - mushrooms/deadpeople (My kind of weird.)
- Kaia Jette - Medusa
- Earth to Eve - boy's my bitch (Oh gosh...)
- Boy Bowser - Yes Ma'am
- BLACKSWAN - MOMMY (About Boy Bowser and BLACKSWAN... Why is Spotify giving me songs where a man / masc person wants a woman to top them..? 😂 The alghorithm finally lost it's shit with me.)
- Go Hang Music - I Fucking Hate People - Fucking Ruined Mix (...case in point. This is... whatever this is... unhinged.)
- SM6 - Panic

The Birth of Venus is Banshee's biggest hit thus far. 1,3 million views in 2 months, when previous songs have gotten about 70 000-80 000 views. But it's not quite viral yet, not even for an independent artist. (I wish it was going viral so I could use that buzz word to describe it to reaction channels...) I recently did a Deep Dive of her music and liked it all, I just didn't feel like writing a post that night.

Release Radar
- Inta:lect ft. Ian Taylor - Midas (Sure, it's an ok song. Ian didn't rap in this, so he probably made the beat. And the adlibs sound like him, too. But unlike Timbaland's constant "eh eh eh's", these actually fit the song.)
- Dorian Electra - Idolize (I like the lyrics. Otherwise the song is not their best.)
- Paradise Lost - Widow (What's up with the sound quality? They're a huge band in their subgenre(s), pioneers. And they've had better sound quality before. Not their best. And this is coming from someone who is a huge fan of theirs. I've listened to them since I was a teen, in 2018 I listened to all their albums they've ever made since 1988, watched the documentary and everything, I've seen them live last year, have the tour shirt, etc...)
- EMELINE - makeout with a stranger (Is it me or why is everyone releasing mediocre songs this week? Sonically this one's the same as her songs usually, but lyrically I don't like this as much. Her songs are usually empowering independent woman kind of pop songs, but in this she's crying after her ex... Sure, people have emotions, and she writes her own songs so there are gonna be songs where we hear her emotions, but that doesn't mean I have to like them. Sorry not sorry. I'm a ruthless consumer today 😄)
- Epica - Code of Life - Live At The AFAS Live (This is one of those bands that are just as good live as they are in the studio. If not better.)
- Statik G, Kvng Moses & Wreckonize- Rich Af (It grew on me. I didn't like the hook at first, but by the end, I was jamming along.)
- Avenged Sevenfold ft. Pussy Riot - Love You Moar (Disappointing. I'm not a fan of the new A7X sound. Their roots are in the hardcore punk scene, before moving to alt metal, and Pussy Riot is a feminist punk rock band. They could have made an amazing punk song together... and they made... this.)
- Celldweller - Fadeaway - Void Chapter Remix (Still incapable of making bad songs... Even the remixes are good. He's one of my teenage years' favourites that are still just as good as 15+ years ago. That hasn't changed too much but whose sound quality has changed over time, for the better. And yes, I'm refering to A7X and Paradise Lost here.)
- Nik Nocturnal ft. Yu Umehara - Tsunderella (Nicest screams I've heard all morning. Nice job, Nik. Yu either is or sounds like she's one of the Babymetal girls.)
- Witchz - Seasons (I like his voice. The song's very stripped back and simplified, and it works well.)
- ARANKAI - Haunted - Mansion (I like this more than the original Haunted.)
- Savage Ga$p ft. KAMAARA - pondering my orb (Cool.)
- Caroline Carr - The Devil's Mind (Nice rock song. I like her voice.)
- LuLuYam - Everything (Surprisingly catchy. I think it's some kind of anime/nerd music. Not nerdcore, because she isn't rapping.)
- New Years Day - Vampyre (Before the screams, it was just a good rock song... Now i'm actually a bit interested...)
- Pihka Is My Name - Caller Unknown
- Wolves At The Gate - When I Was Older
- 3TEETH ft. Mick Gordon - What's Left (Nice. Very Celldweller-y electronic metal.)
- Swedish House Mafia - Ray of Solar - Anfisa Letyago Remix
- Corey Taylor - Dead Flies
- lonelyboy - pretty fly (for a white guy) - lofi (I don't need to go to the album, the album comes to me, one song at a time.)
- lonelyboy - trainstation (His original work is nice, too.)
- K.Flay - Punisher (One of the most interesting artists right now, for me personally. Ashnikko, Scene Queen, Poppy, Rina Sawayama, etc, there are many interesting ones, but these ones I already "get", but K.Flay, Dana Dentata and Angel Haze I don't yet fully understand, what their brand/thing is yet... And that makes them a bit more interesting, I want to figure them out...)
