Weekly Recap (August 25th - 31st, 2025)
Monday
I had an errand to run and on my way there, I listened to private music by Deftones. cut hands was probably my favorite song from the album. The screams just add a little something in it, you know? The last song, departing the body, is great as well, though.
On my way home I listened to PRUDE by Drug Church. It's alright. Like... thrash metal, but a lite version 😄 Not my thing, really, but any metal is better than no metal. 🖤🤘
On my way to work I listened to Supreme Clientele 2 by Ghostface Killah. I've never heard his music before, but I know his name, so I decided to check his album out. -- Oh, he's in Wu-Tang Clan! See, I'm still learning, don't even know the names of the members of a GOAT group like Wu-Tang. But I'm not here to know, I'm here to learn. So, I have heard him before, on Wu-Tang's album Black Samson, the Bastard Swordsman, released earlier this year.
I like this a lot! There's just something about it, it makes me feel relaxed and confident, like I have swag. He has so much swagger it gives me swagger by proxy.
On my way home from work I listened to Inertia by Pendulum. I was in ecstasy the entire way. My god I love them 🖤
I had time after them, so I also listened to the Release Radar Backlog.
- Comaduster - SIGNAL TO NETHER (It's weird, but in a good way. Alternative. Different.)
- grandson - GOD IS AN ANIMAL (It's pretty good. He has better songs, though.)
- Slaev - The Undertows (Nice, calm. Don't mind this at all.)
- JID - On McAfee (Hate the hook, but man he's killing those verses!)
Tuesday
I worked in two different locations today. On my way to the first one, I listened to ONLY ONE MODE (2024) by Speed. Pretty much what I expected it to be, nothing too exciting... THE FIRST TEST goes kinda hard, though, with the scratches and the riff... Very nu metal -esque, in a good way. Apparently they're Australian, and this is their first album.
On my way from the first one to the second one, I listened to This Consequence by Killswitch Engage. Pretty nice. Mainstream, palatable. But well-made, not boring at all.
On my way home, I listened to Magic by Nas. It was good, but I wasn't in the right headspace for it. I should have listened to it some other time. My bad, not his.
Wednesday
On my way to work I listened to A Thousand Little Deaths by Blackbriar. It's pretty good. There are some songs I will listen to again in the future.
Thursday
On my way to work I listened to Opeth - The Last Will And Testament (2024). There were a bunch of other albums I was "supposed to" listen to, but didn't feel like it. I needed metal today. And they delivered 🖤
On my way home I listened to Magic 2 by Nas. I like his sound and flows. I know he's considered a very lyrical rapper, but I just still can't listen to English (language, not country) rap like that... Like, listening to it and immediately getting the lyrics. With metal I can and with Finnish rap I can, so I think it's just a matter of time and exposure...
Friday
On my way to work I listened to Songs For Swingin' Lovers! by Frank Sinatra. I liked it. Not as much as the previous one, which was more melancholic, but there's nothing here to not love, really.
I also read some music news and found out that Mudvayne did a comeback??!?!? I'm so stoked! I'll be very busy today, but I'll try and find the time to listen to it over the weekend! -- I did not, unfortunately. And the beginning of the week ain't looking much better, either... I might have the time and the mental capacity on Thursday or Friday. I have stuff planned for next weekend as well, I'm afraid.
